Tribute to a truly wonderful person.

About Nina           --            Guest Book           --           Photos

Nina left this world far too early with far too much still left to give. Nina enjoyed so many things in life with a passion few could match. She loved her family, Bill and Tina, Gina, Aunt Helen and Uncle Mike, cousins Paul and Rob, and Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Wes with all her heart. Nina loved her dogs, first Iko and then Zeke, her beautiful Golden Retriever. Nina loved the outdoors. She loved hiking up Mt. Rose, camping at Patrick’s Point, diving for abalone at Mendocino, fishing at Swoeringer’s, and hunting in Tuscarora. Nina loved to eat good food. She loved big platters of fried abalone and chukkar, burgers from the Little Nugget, burritos from Beto’s, Vietnamese noodles, and pad Thai. And oh did Nina love good beer. She loved nothing more than sitting in the back yard enjoying a Sierra Nevada Porter or relaxing on the deck of the Rogue Brewery in Ashland drinking Hazelnut Brown. And she loved good, dark roasted coffee. Nina loved music. She’d play Ben Harper’s concert at the Mystic Theater in Petaluma over and over in her head. She’d dance to soul and funk like the music was coming through her.  Most of all, Nina loved to make people feel good and that’s what we’ll miss the most.  Please be at peace now, Nina. The world won’t be the same without you.

Nina passed away unexpectedly in Reno on June 25, 2008. Nina was born in Reno on July 21, 1967 to Bill and Tina Holmberg. Nina Marie Holmberg was a pleasant surprise to her parents who were unaware they were having twins. Nina was a life long Reno resident. She graduated from Wooster High School and the University of Nevada.
Nina is survived by her parents Bill and Tina Holmberg, her twin sister Gina Holmberg and her friends. Nina was the sunshine to her family relatives and many friends. She touched the hearts of many people simply with her smile. Nina will be loved and missed by all.
Nina would like donations made to the Nevada Humane Society in her memory.
Nina, you will always be loved and remembered.

For several days much of Reno was left guessing about what the "H" under the Nevada "N" on Peavine Mountain stood for.

After the stories aired on News 4, viewers called to tell us that the H was a memorial for a Reno woman named Nina Holmberg. The 40-year old woman died last month, and friends added the "H" as a tribute to her.

Viewers say Nina was a happy, loving woman who always made others feel positive.

You can shed tears because she is gone,
Or you can smile because she lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back,
Or you can marvel at what she has left us.
Your heart can feel empty because you will never see her again,
Or you can be full of the love you shared with her.
You can turn your back on today and live in yesterdays,
Or you can be happy for today because of the yesterdays you spent together.

Nina will live forever in the hearts of the people who love her and the people she loved.
